Windows 10 will be getting a big refresh thanks to the Fall Creators Update which is set to have a release date next week.
The Fall Creators Update brings with it A number of major changes like the new timeline feature, the Fluent Design System and mixed reality support.
It's the second creators Update to hit Windows 10 this year and follows from the massive patch that Microsoft launched back in April
A month later the Redmond-based tech giant revealed the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update at the annual Build Conference.
Here are the headline features for the update:
• Timeline – Lets you start work on one device and pick up on another
• Story Remix – A brand new video editor for Windows 10
• View 3D objects in your world thanks to the camera on your PC
• Mixed reality sup port
And while we are now just days away from getting the new features, some users may face a long wait to download the Windows 10 update.
This is all due to the Phased launch Microsoft has planned.
Ahead of the big Windows 10 update hitting PCs, Express.co.uk has rounded up all you need to know about the release date and how to download it.
WINDOWS 10 FALL CREATORS UPDATE – WHAT IS THE RELEASE DATE? CAN I DOWNLOAD IT ON LAUNCH DAY?
The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will start rolling out to PC owners on October 17.
With the Last Creators Update, the Windows 10 patch
It meant that some users were able to get the patch on launch day, and some had to wait until WEEKS before they were able to get it.
And It looks like the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will be rolled out by bit-by-bit to users.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, a Microsoft spokesperson said: "The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will start on October 17th in a measured, deliberate way to ensure quality experience for all.
"It will begin with devices that are ready for the Fall Creators Update based on specs to ensure the highest levels of compatibility and rollout to the more than 500 million devices running Windows 10 over time."
So while the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update release date is October 17, do not expect to see a notification on your PC at launch.
There is a way to manually download the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, which is outlined below, but Microsoft only recommends this for "advanced" users.

You will receive a notification once you are able to download the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.
All versions of Windows 10 will be able to direct update to the creators update , which will be released in users in phases
[1 9459002] A Microsoft spokesperson said: "Much like the creators update, the fall Creators Update will endeavor to ensure quality updates for all devices.
"Once a device is eligible, the Fall Creators Update will automatically download through Windows Update if you have chosen to have updates automatically on your device; This is the optimal experience we recommend.
"Once the download is complete, you'll be prompted for the best time.
"Devices running the Creators Update (1703) will be prioritised but later phases of the rollout will include devices on earlier versions such Anniversary Update (1607)."
IS THERE ANY WAY TO UPGRADE TO THE WINDOWS 10 FALL CREATORS UPDATE WITHOUT HAVING TO WAIT FOR A NOTIFICATION?
If you do not want to receive a notification to upgrade to the Fall Creators update then you can manually update Windows 10 instead.
However, Microsoft "only recommends this running advanced users running licenses for Windows 10".
